Muslim Community Offers Prayer for Rain shows Solidarity

Drought in Swaziland

Ezulwini – Over 300 members of the local Muslim Community on Friday performed the Salaat-tol-Istiqa, a prayer for rain, a first of it’s kind to be held in Kingdom of Eswatini.

The media liaison officer for Islamic Propagation Centre International (IPCI) in Durban, Mr. Mahomed Khan said, “without rain, there was drought and suffering”.

He further added, “naturally, people took everything for granted. However, it was a tradition of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him) and many of the righteous leaders after him that when there was drought in neighboring countries, his predecessors stopped eating lovely, delicious food yet there was no drought in the area”.

“He only had one meal a day. We should realise and be in the same manner that when there is drought, we do not have to wash our hands and waste 10 litres. Instead, we can take a bucket to save the little we have,” he said.
