Zanele Mdluli, Swaziland High Commissioner in Malaysia passed away yesterday morning around 10.am.
The Special Envoy of HRH Princess Sikhanyiso Dlamini for Investment Promotion, Mr. Muhammad Qadeer who is also based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia has expressed his deep condolences of untimely death of Mdluli. “Mdluli was a great diplomat who did her best to represent Kingdom of Swaziland in Malaysia and she was keen in contact with me for the preparation of proposed “Invest in Swaziland Conference” supposed to be held in Kuala Lumpur this year”, Qadeer said. “Zanele Mdluli urged me to plan a digital welcome arrangements for upcoming SADC 2016 summit to be held in Swaziland”, Muhammad Qadeer who was in deep grief, further added while talking to the Siyimbali reporter on phone.
The ministry of foreign affairs and international cooperation received the news of Mdluli’s untimely death yesterday morning.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Swaziland Mr. Gamedze said the ministry was saddened by such news, adding that they were still to report to the country’s elders, Mdluli’s family and government. The minister said as a ministry in charge of the country’s foreign missions, they had been previously informed that Mdluli was sickly and she had been visiting hospitals to be treated.
He said because the ministry was quite far from Malaysia, they could not pay a visit to the deceased so as to check her personally.
The ministry is saddened by Mdluli’s passing away and we are still shocked. We were very much aware that she would fall sick in some instances, but were oblivious of the extent of her ailment,” he said. Gamedze noted that even during the state visit to the India-Africa summit, the ambassador was due to attend, but could not make it as she was reportedly sick. “We advised her to get medical help. She sent her counsel to represent her in India,” the minister said.
Adding, the minister said Mdluli had been Her Majesty the Queen Mother’s protocol, went to South Africa to be the country’s counsel. In 2014, she was retained as the country’s ambassador in Malaysia.
